Space Request Process

Space requests are collected once per year during the annual Space and Capital Planning process. Colleges are asked to submit their space requests to PSPM each spring semester using an established template. Campuswide space requests are then analyzed, documented in the annual Space and Capital Plan and recommendations are presented to UIC’s Space and Capital Planning Committee in the winter, where they are reviewed and vetted for decision making.
Space requests are to be used only when a college has identified a need for additional space beyond their current space assignment that cannot be addressed through the reassignment of space amongst its departments and/or staff, modifications to the way in which space is used, and/or renovations. Requests for additional space should align with the college’s strategic initiatives.

If a college has an emergency space request, this Space Request Form may be used. However, space requests are evaluated comprehensively each winter and it is not guaranteed that space requests can be fulfilled immediately as the campus has extremely limited unassigned space.
