Zero Waste
These standards have been created to aid UIC in achieving its goal of becoming a zero waste university. To date, the campus has been able to reach a diversion waste rate of about 40% but with a conscious campuswide effort to follow the bin guidelines, this rate can be even higher. The Sustainable Materials Management Plan is mandated by section 20/3.1 of the Illinois Solid Waste Management Act (2020).
